Coconutrug was the first contemporary rug made from coconut fiber and produced exclusively by GT DESIGN since 1989. A revolutionary addition to this collection, the new Coconutrug I Glassati line features a new finish coated with waterproof resins. 

Coconutrug I Glassati (Glazed) is hand woven on traditional looms by craftsmen skilled in the use of coconut fiber, a primary source for the manufacture of ordinary tools such as baskets and ropes, re-proposing the ancient knowledge of craftsmanship in a contemporary version. Coconut fiber – considered one of the most resistant natural fibers and known for its excellent acoustic and thermal insulation capacity – has been used since ancient times in the naval field for its ability to resist mould, water and bacteria, rubbing and to tears.

Improvements in texture and aesthetics make Coconutrug I Glazed an ideal rug for summer houses, high traffic areas, outdoor spaces and by the pool. It features the fascinating irregularity of hand-weaving combined with intelligent manufacturing techniques resulting in an exceptional surface.

This rug is modular and can be joined together with colored Velcro strips. This feature is designed for a modern and "light" lifestyle: in fact, Coconutrug I Glassati is easy to disassemble and transport when not in use.

Maintenance: Initially the carpet sheds excess fiber. Vacuum on a low setting, on both sides of the rug. Low powered carpet cleaner on both sides.
